The History of Tarik Dahran

It was during our most secretive of rituals that I spied her watching us. I silently observed her as I built my strength and focused my energy with my brothers on the creation of the dark void. It was at the height of focusing my energy that I actually felt her, or rather felt the touch of her soul; for the soul within her avatar was not just contained therein but was extended out and had touched me. In an instant she was gone.

I searched for her and spread word throughout the guardians to seek this unusual lady; but never a word or glimpse did I trace. On the night before the darkening of the moon, I was sitting against a wall with my boots off in the rulers area reweaving a very well beaten shield. The most uncanny urge to leave the safety of the house and venture out into the canyons came over me. I set out alone and when I arrived I saw nothing. I did however feel a presence and then before my eyes a lady appeared. She was clothed in black and had a flowing blue cape that matched her deep blue eyes and auburn hair. It was the same lady I saw at the ritual. Her name was Aya.

We walked to a sanctuary where we sat and talked about the city and about ourselves with each other for what seemed like only an hour but in reality was many days. I returned to the house a very different man. We met many times on the side in secret, for it was forbidden at that time to have relations outside of the house. We met at the Neutral home most often and told each other of all our experiences in Cloudsbreak and shared all our knowledge of arts and our study of the routes through the chaos. We wanted dearly to find a way to go to each other's villages in Cloudsbreak.

On a very ordinary day I was in my teaching chamber with a small group of students when the ghastly roar was heard and a violent shaking was felt right through the house and into our avatars. The dream was ripping apart and I could hear the screams of terror. Two students perished at my side. Instantly I ran for my life and to search for Aya as well. Word reached me as I ran that a great rift had blown open in the walls of the city where a great gush of chaos was pouring in. I ran forth to assist fearing all would be lost of the city and its inhabitants. There I saw Aya and we together aided those who were trying to repair the walls. We restored then constantly and we picked up the dropped elemens from fallen friends who were overcome and slain.

We deafened ourselves to keep our sanity to not hear the screams of the dying and we never looked at the vast boiling of chaos that loomed through the gaping hole in the walls. It's sight alone was sheer terror and would freeze those who gazed upon it. I could feel myself being overcome and I saw Aya near to her collapse from the overbearing consciousness that was blasting us. The Dreamwrights were nearly finished in sealing the great rift and I went to Aya's aid. At that moment the rift blasted apart and Aya was thrown apart from me and I saw her swallowed into the chaos. My heart was ripped from me, seeing my best friend taken and in screaming her name I awoke.
