The Chaos Eclipse saw further violence in the City when Tykoth emerged under its waning darkness. In early summer it became known that Soulthief was two individuals, Joshua, the dreamer, and the long-dead Dreamwright Tykoth. Tykoth was said to be a former member of the Entropy Coalition who found Joshua's soul in the chaos, and vied to take possession of his avatar. When Tykoth took control of Soulthief, he committed heinous acts, including the enslavement of Pagangypsy.

Also in early summer, a group of Soulmasters formed under Isun's nurturing named the Guardians of Soul. Soon after its conception, the Guardians researched methods of ridding Tykoth's evil influence from the dream and saving Joshua from his clutches. Sanctus was able to uncover a book of rituals that described an ancient Soulmaster tool, named the "Sceptre of Souls." However, very shortly after the Guardians combined their resilience to create this instrument of purification, Tykoth stole it away for his own purposes.
