Kelosis knew that she could not pass through the ward. If only Linister was here he could blend through and save her and their unborn child. But Linister had been tricked into going to the far reaches of the kingdom by a false messenger of Elakshar. He didn't know of Kelosis' plight. Kelosis thought for hours as how she could escape. But nothing worked. She tried pulling the points of the ward loose from the entrance, but she was strong enough. She tried pushing the ward to the side; it wouldn't move. The  ward was bonded to the portal. It was as if the ward had intertwined itself with the fibers of the exit.

Kelosis was in deep thought of how to break the ward when a sharp pain ripped through her body. These pains were getting closer together. She had to get out of here before her child made it's untimely arrival. Kelosis decided to try and use the inner strength that she had. All Gatekeepers have tremendous willpower at their disposal and, she was one of the most advanced GKs in the kingdom. She arose slowly, her body aching and stood before the ward. The orange red "eye" of the ward reflected her image. As her weakening form reeled slightly she saw her reflection, and remembered the gold handled mirror that Linister had given her. It was her most prized possession. She reached in her pack and took the mirror out and softly ran her fingers over the gold carvings and read the inscription on the handle. "You are my love, my dream, my reason to be. Linister" She held the mirror up and saw her reflection realizing that the "eye" was also glass. She now knew the key to the ward!

Another pain shot through her body. Kelosis gasped at the intensity of the pain, but continued to concentrate on the the "eye" of the ward. Her will grew and grew and as she focused on the "eye" she felt a hugh rush of energy rising in her body. She reached her hand out toward the "eye" of the ward and felt an incredible surge of energy pass through her arm. Moments later the sound of shattering glass was echoing through the chamber. The glaring red orange "eye" of the ward had exploded from within and the fragments collided with each other and lost coherence instantaneously. Kelosis was weak but managed to walk through the chamber exit, out into the Light. She was able to see Linister and his warriors striding briskly up the path toward her. She ran to him and just as he got to her she collapsed into his arms. Hours later Kelosis opened her eyes and saw her husband standing by the bed holding a meticulously wrapped blanket. He sat down on the side of the bed and gently laid the precious bundle in Kelosis' arms. Kelosis smiled as she looked into the face of  Shatterina, their daughter.

by Keeka - Master Teacher

Kelosis sat on the floor of the cold, dark, damp chamber. She was staring at the gold star shaped lock that covered the chamber exit and kept her in this prison. The evil high priestess, Elakshar, had imprisoned her because of her jealousy. Kelosis was with child and Kelosis' husband, Linister was the most respected ruler of the land. Elakshar thought if Kelosis was to die she could have Linister. Elakshar ordered her guards to kidnap Kelosis and ward her in the Chamber of Sguh.

She held the mirror close to her chest as she concentrated all her strength on the ward. Minutes rushed by and her willpower began to rise to a level that she had never known before. Another pain shot through her body. Kelosis gasped at the intensity of the pain, but continued to concentrate on the the "eye" of the ward. Her will grew and grew and as she focused on the "eye" she felt a hugh rush of energy rising in her body.
