Feanor
The History of Feanor
My name is Fëanor, and this is the tale of my awakening. I come from the world called Arda. I am an Elf, of the noble race of the Noldor. My name, Fëanáro in my native High-elven tongue, Fëanor in the grey-elven tongue, means "Spirit of Fire". My father was Finwë, King of the Noldor, and my mother was Míriel. I was a great craftsman, some would say the greatest ever. I made the great Silmarils, jewels that held within them the light of the trees of Valinor, and lit the skies before the sun and the moon were devised. I invented the Fëanorian script, the alphabet used by the high elves.
But, my life was filled with conflict and strife, and it would turn out that I was aptly named. My prize posessions, the Silmarils, were stolen from me by Morgoth, the evil one. I waged a long war against Morgoth, but in the process, I also rebelled against the Valar, the Lords of Arda. I alienated the Noldor from the the other elves, and alienated my people from those of my half-brothers, Fingolfin and Finarfin. I perished at last in the great battle of Dagor-nuin-Giliath in Mithrim, in Middle-Earth, after a short and bitter life, in the eyes of elves.
But, elves do not perish as humans do. When our bodies are killed, our souls take on new form and walk the Halls of Mandos, in Aman, until the end of time. In the Halls of Mandos, I discovered a strange gateway to the Dream City, the city of Underlight. Since the passage of time in the Halls of Mandos is pretty boring, I have found myself entering the Dream more and more often.
The first day I entered the Dream, I found myself in a strange place called Threshold. I walked around and listened to the conversations of other dreamers, and tentatively asked questions about the different houses I saw. I decided I would change my personality in the dream, and start anew. I would try to be understanding, cool-headed, and helpful. So, I threw off all that was Fëanor, Spirit of Fire, and became who I am today. The only thing that remains of the old Fëanor is the name. So ends Fëanor's tale of awakening.
