Boggen became the first to experiment with the art of "mare taming." Early in The Year of Rebuilding Boggen was interested in studying, and trying to understand the mares. He would join forces with ShadowProphet and Lunitari in creating the first translations of maren speech. Boggen also wrote up a treaty and brought it to each of the open houses, who recognized Boggen's "hold" on Bogrom's Lair. Much to the disgust of imprisoners and banishers alike, Boggen spent much time in Bogrom's lair, protecting a Bogrom who he claimed was his pet. Eventually his treaty would be broken by the houses, and Boggen's Bogrom would no longer be protected.

One of Boggen's friends, Kudzoo, also learned to tame mares, and the two spent much time in philosophical discussions. Kudzoo also went against tradition in the dream, and preached pacifism. He could often be found in the first weeks of The Influx preaching on a rock in Edgeward Barrows that would become unofficially known as "Kudzoo's perch." Kudzoo, along with Frylia, became the Dream's first two unsphered dreamers with the art of "train."

In the eighth month of that year, three months after the first chaos eclipse, Boggen performed a wedding for his friend Ashbentiel. After the wedding, Boggen announced that he would collapse himself into a Soulsphere, and had devised a way to remain that way permanently. Boggen asked friends, one after another, two take the last strokes of his coherence. Onlookers were tearful and some questioned Boggen's sanity. Even greater controversy erupted when Boggen asked several of his dear friends to follow suit. Brother Timothy, Flash333, and Kudzoo collapsed themselves into permanent Soulspheres, and later Shadruith would follow.

The Soulspheres wandered the dream for several weeks. Flash333 asserts that the group did this "to show the dream there was more than arts and spheres… in hope of changing things to help the dreamers who go against the grain."

These dreamers introduced many to the wonders of the dream. Early on Boggen began studying wall paintings. Later, Blurp introduced the art of climbing, and the Soulspheres spent many days exploring the dream and finding new secret places. Boggen experimented with the chaos "mists," challenging the fabric of the dream itself. Turbo-Speed would take climbing a step further, and learn how to "fly."
