Use of the talisman swings it, causing damage to any dreamer or mare directly in front of the user.

Dropping the blade will cause it to disappear instantly, and it may not be given to another dreamer.

It can, however, be shown to others.

Also see Blade.

Art History

A DreamWright by the name of Aeson Lore and his younger brother Caidon, who was apprenticing under him, are credited with the creation of the first blade that we all use. The FateSender brothers were as close as two could be, the younger looking up to the elder at all times, as their father had past long before. Aeson loved to give his brother the hardest tasks that he could think of, all to train Caidon to be his successor, and surpass even his own works.

He had given Caidon a task, to find useful items in Cloudsbreak, which would be of use to the citizens of the dream, and attempt to recreate them using the elements his coherence and soul commanded. Caidon then set out to try to make his brother as proud of him as he could. He talked to so many inhabitants of the dream, and searched and searched for insight into his quest. He came back to his brother, empty-handed…but with an idea. His journeys had brought him to see that of all the things dreamers had… the one thing they could actually use was a weapon of defense, as he had been attacked by nightmares in his journeys several times, with not much to aid him battle the Entropy Coalitions mistakes.

They came to the conclusion, that the weapon had to be strong, light, and able to be used by all. The two of them worked on this idea for several months, without much rest. Aeson and Caidon brought forth to the dream public some time later, a show of defensive power unmatched before. They were able to call forth a scimitar-like blade, made of complete lucidity, which was their strongest element. They taught the people how to evoke such an item, and to wield it best as possible.

A problem was noticed however, that only the FateSenders of the dream were able to keep such a weapon for long periods of time, and it was not very strong for any other foci. In fact, the other foci had blades that were actually next to useless, providing just enough protection to defend themselves to run, and escape collapse. The two brothers never fixed this problem, as they went on to succeed in other things, thinking that their contribution had been made, and others would perfect it.
