Spheres form the basis for many restrictions in the city, most notably portals that are restricted only to higher sphere levels.
The Art of Sphere
Once a dreamer reaches each ninth orbit, they must find a teacher that has the ability to train sphere levels, and is of a higher sphere level than the student. The student will be required to complete an arduous task before the teacher advances them to the tenth orbit.
The art of Sphere allows a Teacher to raise the sphere of an eligible student.

The sphere equivalent in arts is referred to as a plateau. The same process applies.
Acquiring the Art of Sphere
----
* A Teacher may seek the Art of Sphere from any Elder Master Teacher.
* The Teacher is required to learn the eligibility and requirements for each Sphere level.
* The Teacher will be asked to formulate their own sample sphere quests for review.
* If the Elder Master Teacher feels the teacher is ready, they will be trained in the art of Sphere.

Sphere Tasking:
Sphere Ascension Paths
**A Teacher may seek the Art of Sphere from an Elder Master Teacher.
**A Teacher must be at LEAST 3rd sphere and have issued 10+ tasks competed by students.
**“Sphere Apprenticeship” quest(s) will be issued if the Teacher is approved and has met all the requirements. The process will consist of working with experienced sphere teachers to learn the ropes.
**The Teacher is required to learn the eligibility and requirements for each Sphere level.
**The Teacher will be asked to formulate their own sample sphere quests for review.
**If the Elder Master Teacher feels the Sphere Apprentice is ready, they will be trained in the art of Sphere.

Sphere Requirements:
Tasking
Sphere 1: Should demonstrate understanding of the more basic functions in the Dream. This may be done in an interview but a Sphere Quest stating what was discussed must also be written before the student is granted the Sphere.
* A dreamer may take on a task from a teacher with the art of Sphere that will test their abilities and send them on a quest to earn their ascension to the next sphere. A dreamer, upon completion of the quest, must seek out sphere support tokens from their peers and bring them, along with their quest report, to the sphere teacher for consideration.
Sphere 2: Demonstrate knowledge that would have been gained from interacting with others. This may be done in an interview but a Sphere Quest stating what was discussed must also be written before the student is granted the Sphere.
Sphere 3: Actively participate in a meaningful event or experiment (Meaningful meaning multiple dreamers towards a specific goal, not necessarily “Dream changing”)

Sphere Ascension Tasking
Arts Requirements:
* Sphere 1: Should demonstrate understanding of the more basic functions in the Dream. This may be done in an interview but a Sphere Quest stating what was discussed must also be written before the student is granted the Sphere.
ALL SPHERES require that your Blade, Flame, and Focus art be to your sphere level. Additionally:
* Sphere 2: Demonstrate knowledge that would have been gained from interacting with others. This may be done in an interview but a Sphere Quest stating what was discussed must also be written before the student is granted the Sphere.
1st Sphere: See/Complete Oracle System
* Sphere 3: Demonstrate knowledge that would have been gained from taking part in a larger event. This may be done in an interview but a Sphere Quest stating what was discussed must also be written before the student is granted the Sphere.
2nd Sphere: See/Complete Oracle System
* Sphere 4: LEAD a Large-scale event involving many others.
3rd Sphere: All Oracle Gifts Received
* Sphere 5: LEAD or HOST at least three events involving many others. (Events can be a progression event or a tournament as examples)
4th Sphere: 3 Focal arts at 39.
* Sphere 6: Event impacting more than one house or group. Should be documented on the public scrolls and usually requires 5 to 6 events to create the whole.
5th Sphere: 4 Focal arts at 49.
* Sphere 7: Event impacting the entire City. This should be a significant event that will go down in the History of the City. Should require at least 6 to 7 attempts at what you are trying to accomplish. Documentation on the public scrolls is required for this sphere task.
6th Sphere: 5 Focal arts at 59.
* Sphere 8: Dream changing event. Should involve the entire City and benefit it as well. The event should be extremely well known and just as well documented on the public scrolls. Several, at least 7 to 8, attempts should be made before the final result is achieved.
7th Sphere: 6 Focal arts at 69, 5 Dreamsoul arts at 69.
* Sphere 9: The secondary focus path will serve as a dreamer's task for 9th sphere. Upon completion of their secondary focus, they may freely gather supports from their peers and seek an Elder to ascend to 9th sphere.
8th Sphere: 7 Focal arts at 79, 6 Dreamsoul arts at 79.
9th Sphere: Second Focus Path. 7 Dreamsoul arts at 89.

ARTS THAT WILL -NOT- COUNT TOWARDS DREAMSOUL ART REQUIREMENTS:
Sphere Mastery
House rank arts (Ascend to Ruler, initiate, demote, etc), Power Token, Sphere, Quest, Soul Evoke, Support Sphere, Support Train, Train Self.

Train and House Arts (but only one house art) will count towards Dreamsoul Art Requirements.
* A dreamer may master their focus and skip the need to embark on a quest. To master one's focus, a dreamer MUST have every focal art plateaued to their current sphere. Any focal art that requires membership in a house to evoke is excluded from this requirement. A dreamer who masters their focus MUST seek an Elder (rainbow halo) FIRST to verify their accomplishment and get a codex of eligibility. The dreamer may then use this codex to gather sphere support tokens from their peers. Upon gathering the required number of supports, the dreamer will bring the codex of eligibility and supports back to any Elder (rainbow halo) to be granted to the actual sphere. You do not need to go to the same Elder you got the codex from. The act of mastering your focus will count as the effort needed to ascend to the next sphere.
* Ex: A Soulmaster that is Orbit 59 and seeking 6th sphere must have every Resilience art plateaued to 50. The exception would be Corrupt Essence as this requires rank in a house to evoke.

When these requirements are met you may begin seeking Sphere Support tasks.
Sphere Support Tokens
**Support sphere tokens are required for all spheres after 3rd. To obtain one, a task will be sought from a supporting (any) teacher. The approximate scale of effort or difficulty for each Sphere Support task should be around a 50-60 art plat difficulty. This usually includes leading or organizing at least one meaningful effort/initiative/experiment/impact that includes others and has been given -forethought- to an idea including expectations, preparation, planning and execution of the idea BEFORE the effort has taken place.
Required Number of Sphere Support Tokens
**Sphere Support tasks may still be a multi-step progressive path towards a large-scale goal, several multi-step smaller projects, or completely unrelated. If there are steps to a greater goal each step must be tasked individually prior to any attempts.
* 1st - 3rd Sphere = 0 tokens
**Students should not be in possession of or working on more than -2- active Sphere Support tasks at any given time.
* 4th Sphere = 2 tokens
**All Sphere Support tasks should be created on a Quest codex and the art of SUPPORT SPHERE should be targeted.
* 5th Sphere = 4 tokens
* 6th Sphere = 6 tokens
* 7th Sphere = 8 tokens
* 8th Sphere = 10 tokens
* 9th Sphere = 12 tokens

Also see the XP and Sphere Table.

Supports required for each sphere:
Reference
4th Sphere 2 tokens
5th Sphere 4 tokens
6th Sphere 6 tokens
7th Sphere 8 tokens
8th Sphere 10 tokens
9th Sphere 12 tokens (No tasks required for attaining supports)
**All Sphere Support tasks can be reviewed by the Teaching Team and Teaching Lead to determine if it meets the criteria. If the Team feels that it doesn’t meet the criteria sufficiently, they may have the option to speak with the student and the Teacher/s about the sphere support task and work to alter or create one that is acceptable.
**While progressing through your secondary focus, tasks are not required to obtain supports for spheres.
**No double dipping with Sphere Support tasks. If its for your sphere, you may not gain another art/plat train for the same effort.

The Elders are looking at the art of Quest/Support Sphere/Train to make it so when you report your Support Sphere task it is recorded in the Book of Knowledge when a ribbon is made like how Support Train tasks work. Until then we will ask that students seeking spheres hang onto their tasks as well as the support ribbons until the sphere is completed and granted for teacher and/or Elder review.
Teachers may review the tasks to make sure there were tasks involved in gaining support and grant the sphere responsibly. This is not an opportunity for teachers to be overly critical of the tasks (but may ask questions), the teacher who granted the support ribbon already assessed that. If there are concerns, a teacher may refuse to grant the sphere and contact the Elder Masters.

I would like to suggest dedicating a room to Sphere Support tasks and ribbons. Ones that come to mind would be the Sphere Studies in the Library Sphere Halls. There are also Teaching Halls, Focal Guilds, House Vaults, and other various caches and vaults around the city to store these and other teaching related items for the time being.

TEACHING STANDPOINT:

**A student approaches a sphering teaching to let them know they are going to be beginning their sphere journey. They will discuss with that teacher roughly what they plan on doing and may check in with the teacher periodically throughout the process for advice/suggestions/guidance. Since this teacher will be granting the sphere, they will not be able to provide a support for the student's sphere.

**A student approaches teachers for Sphere Supports.
**The teacher will verify the student meets all art requirements.
**Teacher and student will discuss if this is part of an ongoing effort they have not attempted, if they have something in mind they haven't started on already, or have an idea of a standalone project they would like to attempt. The student may have no idea, and this is when the teacher would need to come up with something for the student to work on. Any task given should be around a 50/60 plat difficulty to be an appropriate Sphere Support task.
**Teacher evokes Quest and targets their Support Sphere art. Write down what they came up with, gives to student.
**Student returns, reports the task.
**Teacher creates Support Sphere ribbon, and gives that and the quest to the student.

**If a teacher is asked to train a sphere, and is presented with supports and tasks, they may ask questions about the tasks but are not expected to be overly critical. The teachers who provided the Sphere Support ribbons should have already done that. If a teacher has a concern, they may refuse to train the sphere and direct the student to a Master Teacher or Elder Master.

The Art of Sphere

The art of Sphere allows a Teacher to raise the sphere of an eligible student.

Acquiring the Art of Sphere

 • A Teacher may seek the Art of Sphere from any Elder Master Teacher.
 • The Teacher is required to learn the eligibility and requirements for each Sphere level.
 • The Teacher will be asked to formulate their own sample sphere quests for review.
 • If the Elder Master Teacher feels the teacher is ready, they will be trained in the art of Sphere.

Sphere Ascension Paths

Tasking

 • A dreamer may take on a task from a teacher with the art of Sphere that will test their abilities and send them on a quest to earn their ascension to the next sphere. A dreamer, upon completion of the quest, must seek out sphere support tokens from their peers and bring them, along with their quest report, to the sphere teacher for consideration.

Sphere Ascension Tasking

 • Sphere 1: Should demonstrate understanding of the more basic functions in the Dream. This may be done in an interview but a Sphere Quest stating what was discussed must also be written before the student is granted the Sphere.
 • Sphere 2: Demonstrate knowledge that would have been gained from interacting with others. This may be done in an interview but a Sphere Quest stating what was discussed must also be written before the student is granted the Sphere.
 • Sphere 3: Demonstrate knowledge that would have been gained from taking part in a larger event. This may be done in an interview but a Sphere Quest stating what was discussed must also be written before the student is granted the Sphere.
 • Sphere 4: LEAD a Large-scale event involving many others.
 • Sphere 5: LEAD or HOST at least three events involving many others. (Events can be a progression event or a tournament as examples)
 • Sphere 6: Event impacting more than one house or group. Should be documented on the public scrolls and usually requires 5 to 6 events to create the whole.
 • Sphere 7: Event impacting the entire City. This should be a significant event that will go down in the History of the City. Should require at least 6 to 7 attempts at what you are trying to accomplish. Documentation on the public scrolls is required for this sphere task.
 • Sphere 8: Dream changing event. Should involve the entire City and benefit it as well. The event should be extremely well known and just as well documented on the public scrolls. Several, at least 7 to 8, attempts should be made before the final result is achieved.
 • Sphere 9: The secondary focus path will serve as a dreamer's task for 9th sphere. Upon completion of their secondary focus, they may freely gather supports from their peers and seek an Elder to ascend to 9th sphere.

Sphere Mastery

 • A dreamer may master their focus and skip the need to embark on a quest.
 • Ex: A Soulmaster that is Orbit 59 and seeking 6th sphere must have every Resilience art plateaued to 50. The exception would be Corrupt Essence as this requires rank in a house to evoke.

Sphere Support Tokens

Required Number of Sphere Support Tokens

 • 1st - 3rd Sphere = 0 tokens
 • 4th Sphere = 2 tokens
 • 5th Sphere = 4 tokens
 • 6th Sphere = 6 tokens
 • 7th Sphere = 8 tokens
 • 8th Sphere = 10 tokens
 • 9th Sphere = 12 tokens
