Doctrine of the Enigmatic Order:
The Chaos and Order Doctrine of the Enigmatic Order
Statement of core beliefs: We, the members of the Enigmatic Order, believe in a balance between order and chaos. Our city, whichever form it may take, is a bastion of order within the chaos.
Chaos doctrine: We do not fear the chaos nor do we rush foolishly towards it. We do not seek to control or subdue the chaos. We seek to understand it better. We will use this understanding to better ourselves, our house, and the city as a whole. We will commune with the chaos diety Shel’rac in order to facilitate a better understanding.
Order doctrine: As an entity of order, the City Guard will be housed within the Enigmatic Order. Under its auspices, we will conduct patrols within the city to fully understand the differences between the old and the new. We will monitor for threats both internal and external. In addition to traditional patrols, we will use divination and scrying in pursuit of understanding threats and the inner workings of our shared city. We will also endeavor to find an Order diety to support our efforts.
Additional doctrinal statements:
Kotoken doctrine: Kotoken doctrine: Known as dreadspawn in Thornhaven, we will have it be known that we are not “mare huggers.” However, we also recognize that not all kotoken are cut from the same cloth. If kotoken come to us with violence, we will return the violence. However, as beings of chaos, we will also work to understand their hierarchy, intentions, and doctrine.
Royal doctrine: In the Kingdom of Thornhaven, we recognize King Matias, Queen Rivin, and their retinue. However, having been involuntarily immigrated to Thornhaven through unknown means, we do not consider ourselves as vassals and in no way subservient to the crown. We do not consider them our king and queen. Any stronghold we control, we do so on transactional terms with Thornhaven’s royalty.
