...I wish to propose a new art, conforming to the only mare house without a house art, Gathering of the Entranced. This is the art of Cleanse Nightmare. Again, we will start with the Essence already in the Soulmaster's possession. And we decide to cleanse it so we evoke Cleanse 'Mare on it. The Essence (of 1 strength) is then wrapped in Dreamsoul and exposed to harmonics which in effect purifies the essence. The Dreamsoul and harmonics are created by the SoulMaster evoking this art. Again, what is left behind after this art is evoked is a token. When the Nightmare is cleansed, it has no strength because it's Avatar has moved on to another plane, and is not in the token.
Art History
Back in the early days, when the dream was still quite new, there was a young girl, T'Lana, a princess of the Entranced, the daughter of rulers of this small house. Nothing bad had ever touched this cherished child of the Entranced. She spent her days in light studies and in exploring the beauty of the dream.
One day, she was walking in the Lower Basin, picking flowers, when suddenly the air around her began to thicken, a shape to form...a pure black shape....She was soon surrounded by this being, engulfed, and carried away to his lair, where she was held prisoner for many years.
One day there was a raid on the cave--warriors of the Entranced entered and slew the monster who had held her captive for so very long. She started to rush forward to thank them--but, they backed away, their eyes wide, to the entrance of the cave and fled.
Confused, the princess left the cave, the light outside, which she hadn't seen in so long, nearly blinding her. She wandered, lost, until she found herself at the Forgotten Falls. Going to the edge of the pool, she knelt down, intending to cool her face with the water--when she glanced in the water, and let out a scream of terror at the reflection she saw--that of a black, shapeless specter with glowing red eyes!
The princess had lived so long with the creature of chaos that she had been transformed so she was just like him, though, in appearance only--her heart remained as gentle and innocent as ever. Yet, because of her appearance, dreamers either attacked her or fled in terror, even members of her own house and family!
One day, D'Tan, a young soulmaster of the Entranced came upon the princess where she hid in the waters at Forgotten Falls. This young SoulmMster had a new ritual he wished to try--a cleansing ritual he had developed after many years of study. Staring at the shape in the water, without fear, he called forth on the powers of the Entranced, and a cloud of Dreamsoul fell into the water surrounding the creature hiding in its depths. The young man then began to sing a song of healing in a low pleasing tenor that resonated on the water. At the finish, he whispered softly, "Come on out!"
After much coaxing, the princess slowly rose from the waters, The young man stared at her a moment, then silently handed her a mirror. As she gazed at her face--her OWN face--tears of joy slowly began to fall, and the SoulMaster took her hand and led her home.
This early research is the basis of the cleansing of nightmare essences Gathering of the Entranced uses today, and had its start when a young SoulMaster saved the young woman who became his wife from a life of eternal agony.
Alternate history
The art of Cleanse Nightmare was created by a group of Gathering of the Entranced members after their first prime was destroyed. While roaming Cenotaph of Dread the dreamers felt they were failing their house and the city. Because their house prime was gone, they had no way to cleanse the taint from the mare’s essences they had. Taint began to over flood the city. More mares appeared, and they seemed to be getting stronger. More DreamSoul, giving out more damage, and a couple even began to see chameled dreamers. Well one female Gathering of the Entranced member thought of an idea while bathing in Meylia’s Pond. While she was bathing herself in the city’s purest waters, she dropped a Emphant essence from her pack into the pond. She was going to pick it up when she noticed the water begin to boil. Black ooze was seeping from the essence into the pond. She began evoking Purify to keep the water taintless. When the bubbling had stopped, she picked up the essence. It had transformed into a clear glass crystal.
She realized that the ooze was the taint from the mare. She began doing tons of studying to create an art to have the same effect. She had one art almost done, but there was a problem. When the essence was cleansed of it’s taint, the taint would continue to ooze out into the dream itself. This was bad because it wasn’t actually doing anything to help the taint problem. After remembering the effect of Purify…she decided to add the art of purify to her art, thus creating the art of cleanse mare…it would take the taint out...and the purifying effect would destroy the ooze. Thank goodness for Gathering of the Entranced!. Soon the mare problem was controlled and the city was back on its path of balance.

Rediscovery (As told by Sage X)
Well the power of cleanse was in an item called the Harmonic Sphere before it was transferred to be a full functioning prime. We all gathered in a large circle as we each passed the item to one another in this circle we tried to achieve a personal balance within ourselves and to allow the cleansing power to be transferred from the item to Omshae Vorsate. We thought of certain things good and bad and achieved personal balance as it was passed then finally given to Omshae Vorsate where it was transferred to him also.
Omshae Vorsate was no teacher only a house seneschal for Gathering of the Entranced. So we then were able to cleanse through his powers but none of us had it ourselves. A few weeks later the same process was used once again it was tried to transfer the power of cleanse to Xerom. Everything was the EXACT same. Once given to Xerom, Omshae and Xerom disappeared only to reenter a few minutes later in the same spot and the transfer had worked. The first ceremony to have the art transferred to Vorsate was at Gathering of the Entranced itself. To have it transferred to Xerom it was at Wishbringer's Ice Palace. Well anyway once Xerom had it a few days later I was the first since before the Great Loss to receive a task in it. Sadly I had to leave the City for a short time and SunBlade ended up getting a task as well. When I returned my task was done and Xerom visited our home SunBlade and I were to report our tasks together. In the end as we all met at the house SunBlade's report lasted HOURS and after the report was done she was denied to learn the art. She had failed. I then reported my task I passed and Xerom granted me the art of cleanse as the First non Lyran to gain it since The Great Loss. SunBlade tried seeking Xerom for a week or two and couldn’t so then learned it from me. And I in turn taught it to DreamEdge as well.
