Art Research

Deafen creates a temporary shell around the target which negates harmonic resonance (sound waves) from approaching the target. Sound directed towards the affected is nullified, causing deafening silence.

Art History

Deafen was originally uncovered in it's earliest form by Raeh T'nac. He was a great FateSender and later aided greatly in the Knowledge that led up to the Art of Forge Talisman, specifically the Lucidity talismans. He often spent days upon days dreaming solid. Furthering his research- It was on one of these such days when he was analyzing and practicing his Trail Art as he had gotten bored with nothing new developing.

In the middle of one of it's castings, his wife walked in, and began nagging that he forgot to clean up his laboratory. He thought silently to himself, that he would do absolutely anything to stop hearing her incessant nagging. Suddenly, the evocation of the art went wild, and a Trail crystal enveloped around him-and he found he couldn't hear or see a thing.

And so- Deafen was on it's way. He researched this odd effect for many years, but found this odd combination of Art to affect only the caster. Thankfully, many years after his death, another dreamer of unknown name managed to separate an Art from this gone-awry Trail.....Deafen..... He designed safeguards to ensure that one could not make himself deaf...This art works for the same reasons the gone awry one did however. When it is cast, an invisible crystal of Lucidity surrounds the target, barring all sound from entering. The Final development in Deafen occurred after The Dreamer Wars during the enforce "peace" of DreamStrike...and was used against dreamers who entered houses chameled.

Notes

The dreamer will also be deafened to themselves.
