Chapter 2: King Therimen's Rein

It was a long road for Thornhaven, and as time went on, many Kings and generations had passed. The four orbs had been passed down and the city had evolved, and nature took hold. Thornhaven became a city of magic and power. During this time, Therimen was King and ruled the lands with strength and wisdom, inheriting a legacy that had been passed down through generations. The royal family worked hard to support the people and protect the city. Like any city, Thornhaven continued facing struggles and conflicts. The fabric of the city was woven from elemental energies, thriving on the balance between them.

The history of Thornhaven was always in the minds of dreamers, continuing to be talked about. The Divine Summit, a beacon of honor and strength for its people, stood as a reminder of King Thorn, ushering in hope and prosperity. The city, a beautiful landscape filled with big trees and a bright blue sky, had truly blossomed. The Royal Gardens were open to all, with houses overflowing with life, the Hall of Honors full of rewarding recognitions, and the Kingdom providing sanctuary for its people

During this time in history, the mighty King Therimen ascended to the throne. He was a stern and powerful ruler who worked tirelessly for the Kingdom to give honor to his name. With the Queen and his daughter by his side, they provided support to the people. Together, they would work on projects to improve Thornhaven, building new paths and bridges. There were festivals celebrated at the Kingdom and it became a staple of the city. The royal family’s commitment to their people inspired pride and ensured that the legacy of their reign would be remembered for generations to come.

One evening, King Therimen walked along a winding path through the city and came across one of the time portals. The time portal began to react to his presence and then a deep voice spoke to him. Warning of a powerful god that emerged at the beginning of time named Sydrah, promising strength and power to those who listened. Instead, Sydrah led dreamers down a path of madness and tyranny. Unlike other deities, he preached a gospel of dominion over time and space, and his corruption only grew with each passing day.

King Therimen took heed and listened to the voice he believed to be King Thorn. He began taking precautions throughout the city. And as described by the traveler, unusual signs began to manifest. After many years of silence, Sydrah began visiting the city again, unwelcome in Thornhaven but that did not stop him. He spread his dark gospel through whispers, and his presence felt even though he was unseen. As night fell and darkness deepened, so did the corruption in Thornhaven. The city’s inhabitants, once full of light, found themselves hidden away in their houses, far away caves, and even to the Kingdom for refuge.

The chaos became so evil, that creatures emerged from the city’s darkest depths. These creatures were known as the Mistborn. These chaotic monstrous beings terrorized the citizens, their foul odor and sharp claws striking fear in all. They hunted relentlessly, feeding on the strength of those who had once found refuge within Thornhaven’s walls.

After witnessing the rise of the Mistborn and the dark influence of Sydrah, a respected general in the Kingdom’s army, Riken began operating in secrecy. He knew that traditional methods of defense would no longer be enough to protect Thornhaven. So he formed the Cryptid Collective, gathering a select group of skilled dreamers who shared his vision of preserving the city. With knowledge he learned from his years in the royal army, Riken developed new ways to combat the growing threat of the Mistborn. His Cryptid Collective worked tirelessly, using every resource at their disposal to protect Thornhaven from these monstrous creatures. Using powerful artifacts, they hunted these nightmares, their actions hidden from the eyes of the citizens they swore to protect.

As Riken and the Cryptid Collective continued to hunt the Mistborn, the city was faced with greater challenges than they thought imaginable as Sydrah’s dark influence worsened. Sydrah caught the attention of a particular dreamer named Ogithus, someone whose thirst for power matched his own. This dreamer, drawn by the fascination of Sydrah’s promises, stood at a crossroads, ready to make a choice that would change the fate of Thornhaven forever. The air so thick with tension and chaos, and little did Thornhaven's citizens know, the path ahead was filled with such danger, and the God of the Void's plans would drive through the very soul of the Kingdom.
