Scarwind
Scarwind: Dark Dreamwright
Our Interviewer writes down Valourin's story as he presents it to the History Group:
"Not long after that Manido's time became short in the Dream and he did confess to being captured in an attack on his village. He was trying to learn something of the dream from Manido, and had the help of his wizard, or so we were told. That was all we could find out as Manido himself did not know more, until one day STATX was dreaming, an odd occurrence as he rarely showed himself except to give a hint as to when one of the pieces of the Codex of Immortal Dreams would resurface. This day though he wrote of Scarwind, it was there we found out he was a Freesoul Knights. A vicious one at that... so bad that somehow he was banished, this was before the time of Dreamstrike so I do not know how it was accomplished. The Freesoul Knights was the name of the first Freesoul group that fought against the Illuminate Front.
"He did not speak long to us but must of said something to others as they found out that Scarwind's plan needed a third sphere Soulmaster, which happened to be what Manido was. So one night when Manido managed to dream without his captors realizing it he asked his friends Maker and Tiger to strip him of his sphere. The big day came, when Scarwind was supposed to appear, and all waited to see what would happen. Then he appeared, many were let down, thinking Manido's sacrifice was in vain.
"However, as Scarwind postured and boasted of his power, someone in the crowd Judged him. After a short laugh they exclaimed that he was unsphered. To prove us wrong Scarwind defiantly put his crest on claiming to be more powerful than Kelrith or Artamor even, and his symbol also indicated his lack of sphere.
"To say he was furious would be an understatement, he ranted and screamed to know how it was possible. It was Maker that told him of the action taken to weaken him. This did not deter our would be conqueror though, he went to a Threshold, it seems like it was the Order's and claimed the House as his own. He gained a few followers quickly, dreamers like Smoke and Hemphop who desired nothing more than conflict, fighting, and power. He also on that day made reference to a dark Dreamwright who would appear to aid him.
"He did act very tough, and his wizard Zarius apparently learned to enter the dream as well. He was considerably more powerful here than his master was. However, Zarius was not the most loyal of fellows, it seems he served mostly out of fear, and for the offer of sufficient knowledge he could be bribed. Scarwind would taunt us daily with his captive, saying that while we could not really harm him, he had every means to end Manido's existence. More help came from an unlikely source, a dreamer known as Insomnia. He was a vehement and nasty dreamer. He was upset about a wrong done him in the past and was very mercenary.
"However, he gave some information to Snowblind. Soon after a plan was born, Snowblind, who apparently lived on the same shard, gathered an army of his own. When it was in position we waited for Scarwind to dream. As soon as he appeared we cornered him in Edgeward Barrows and warded the plane. We chased him around and collapsed him and warded him in. He began to taunt us with how we could not harm him, probably a mix of us not having Dreamstrike and his Freesoul nonsense.
"But then he stopped in mid-laugh. He began to fade and he cursed us, and Zarius as he disappeared. A few moments later Zarius showed up and told us that Snowblind's attack had succeeded as planned at that Scarwind had been killed. He continued that Manido would be released soon. With that he disappeared, and we waited anxiously and sure enough soon Manido showed up, weak from his ordeal. He could not stay long, just long enough to ensure us that Zarius had spoken the truth and that he was free and Scarwind was no longer a threat and his army was dispersed.
"Well Snowblind and Manido both said he was dead, killed in the attack. Zarius did show up again, acting as a Dreamwright, Soulmaster I believe."
