Artifact Wars

Not long after the Dreamers of Light and House Calenture were re-opened, and their artifacts returned to their keeping, House Calenture lost the Orb of Calenture to Dreamers of Light. Shortly after Kelrith bestowed the Orb of Calenture on House Calenture, Ghea gave Kasumi Keda of Dreamers of Light the Orb as a token of "good will," unknowing of its powers: "Kasumi, Remember, we have asked nothing in return for the Artifact." Not long afterwards, one of the first Initiates of the Dreamers of Light, Valourin, lost his House Identification. The identification fell into the hands of House Calenture by a new initiate named Smoke. House Calenture proposed a trade: the Orb of Calenture exchanged for Valourin's House Identification. The powers of the Orb were not yet known to the Dreamers of Light, and the trade took place.

Later, the orb would vanish. House Calenture searched for the Orb without success. In response, a Guardian of House Calenture, Ghea, captured Valourin's pregnant wife, Tiger, and threatened to banish his unborn children to the chaos, if the Orb was not returned to House Calenture's keeping, and if the Dreamers of Light did not surrender the Dreamer's stone.

Ghea had been given a book by Succubus Desire, which she claimed contained the spells to banish dreamers into the chaos. Some say the book possessed her and drove her to insanity, leading her to make these curses and threats to the Dreamers of Light.

Tiger was warded against a wall in the House Calenture maze, and Ghea sent a message to Tiger's husband, Valourin. In the note Ghea threatened to keep Tiger captive and banish their children to the chaos if Valourin would not agree to a trade Tiger for the Orb of Calenture and the Dreaming Stone. Valourin gathered together Watcher and many fellow members of Dreamers of Light, and ran to House Calenture. There they found Tiger warded in and chained to a wall of the House Calenture maze, and a battle raged between the two houses. Valourin and Watcher were eventually collapsed, and Ghea demanded the Orb of Calenture.

"Finally I accepted coherence," Valourin remembers, "and no one fired at me as I moved over to my captive wife, checking on her as I think she had passed out. Again Ghea threatened… As soon as she started to speak from the book, I attacked her in front of the entire house. She got a spell off, though, before I collapsed her, then she went to the sanctuary to regain coherence… I immediately checked on Tiger but she did not appear to be pregnant any longer." House Calenture and Dreamers of Light together tried to loosen Tiger's chains, and House Calenturians began arguing among-st each other on the morality of Ghea's actions. House Calenture released Tiger of her bonds.

Valourin planned to leave the dream "to see if their tiny souls were in the chaos." He made a trip to the Caudal Rift to search for them in the chaos, and recovered them, only to bring a corrupting affliction upon himself.
