Efflorescence Conservatory (almost always known as "EC") was opened at Lambent Stronghold in the first moon of the year 12 of the Idoaclesian calendar, about the same time that Scryers of Truth closed. Despite its rather comical reputation, it outlasted several other Houses and remained open until the loss of the Idoaclesian City in the year 14.
Goals and Beliefs
EC was a house of gardeners, experimenting with creating and using plants with unusual powers. EC initiates swore an oath "To dream with responsibility for their actions and always be mindful of the giving and taking balance of the dream; to preserve the delicate balance between renewable resources and expansion by learning, defending and creating from what has been given to us".
Origins
written by: Blue EC's story began with a question asked by Kira Simone to Vartan and another dreamer whose name escapes me: If dreamers can build up their strength and harvest energy by cutting down nightmares, why is the same not true of harvesting plants? The three set out to create a plant that could do this. They created a seed, planted it and fed it with various energies. The plant drew much interest from other dreamers - too much; wrong ideas began to circulate about what the plan was, and well-intentioned people fed the plant with things that had never been intended. The plant flowered and died without reaching its full powers, but did leave a healthy crop of seeds.
So the three dreamers decided to use Lambent Stronghold as a base where they could try again without outside interference. They planted one of the seeds in a specially made bowl, where it grew into a flower, which became their Prime Artifact. Three more seeds were planted outside and became three flowers which were known, at times, to speak. The fifth seed was to be used to carry on the experiment. Kira Simone became the ruler of the House.
History
EC never did succeed in creating a plant that could be harvested for strength, but they "branched out" into many other projects some of which were more successful.
They were generally believed to be a pacifist house. Pacifism was in fact never part of their rules, but most of the members had little interest in fighting other dreamers and their activities were of a kind that rarely drew opposition. However, this changed in the last year of the Idoaclesian City, when it was threatened by the Lost Name.
