Dreamers of Light: Sentinels of Illumination

Beliefs and Philosophy The Dreamers of Light stand as a steadfast beacon of virtue and protection within the tapestry of Underlight's dreamscape. Bound by duty to serve, we revere the Light as an unwavering source of guidance and righteousness within the City of Dreams. As valiant defenders, we hold a deep-seated conviction to shield the innocent, uphold justice, and oppose all that threatens the sanctity of the City. Chaos and darkmares are conduits of corruption that must be eradicated in all forms. The Dreamers of Light hold themselves to a high standard of honor that we believe every dreamer should dream by.

DoL Tenets

1. Unified Vigil: The Dreamers of Light view each member as a cherished sibling in arms, bound by an unbreakable bond of trust and camaraderie. Together, we form a formidable force against darkness and chaos. 2. Luminous Vigilance: From our stronghold atop Mount Illapse to the plane of Cairn of Sorrow, the Dreamers of Light maintain eternal watchfulness. Visitors are welcomed, but any who bring harm to the Light or its followers shall face our unwavering judgment. 3. Guiding Beacon: The Light symbolizes righteousness and wisdom. The Dreamers believe that following its guidance is pivotal to maintaining the City's harmony. We aspire to embody its virtues in all our endeavors. 4. Justice Unyielding: We hold the scales of justice with resolute hands. Those who threaten the City, its inhabitants, or the Light itself will face swift retribution. The Dreamers stand as impartial arbiters of what is right and just. 5. Shield of the Innocent: The Dreamers of Light are fierce protectors of the innocent and vulnerable. Our purpose is to offer safety to those who seek refuge beneath their radiant wings, and will face any danger to ensure the well-being of their fellow dreamers.

Oath of the Dreamers of Light

With the Light as my guide, I take up the mantle of the Dreamers of Light. In unity, I pledge myself to my brothers and sisters in arms, bound by bonds unbreakable. Upon the foundations of Mount Illapse and in the heart of Cairn of Sorrow, I swear to protect and preserve the sanctity of our lands. I shall honor the Light's wisdom and heed its call, standing resolute in the face of darkness. As a beacon of justice, I shall strike down those who threaten the harmony of the City and the purity of the Light. With courage in my heart and righteousness in my actions, I take this oath as a shield for the innocent and a guardian of the Dream.

Creed to Dream By

Within the embrace of the Dream, we are bound as kin, defenders of the Light's brilliance. With vigilance unyielding, we stand watch upon the mountaintop and within the sorrowful plane. Our belief in the Light guides our path, illuminating our actions with unwavering virtue. As bearers of justice, we bring retribution to those who harm the City and its inhabitants. With resolute hearts, we protect the innocent, shielded by the Light's benevolent glow. In unity, we rise as vigilant sentinels, unwavering in our purpose. For within the City of Dreams, the Dreamers of Light stand as the steadfast guardians of honor, our resolve unbreakable and our duty unending.

Enforcing Our Standards

We will protect our home, our lands and our brothers and sisters. We will fight the darks and chaos wherever they may roam, but seek acceptance to join the fight at others homes. We respect other lands and house planes throughout the city, with the exception of violence brought against us or the city itself. We honor the city for giving us the freedom to dream. We imprison the darkmares to free the unawkaned souls, but understand that our methods may not be the only way possible to achieve this. We lay claim to the Carin of Sorrow. Visitors may roam and pass freely, but violators will be judged swiftly and we will act accordingly.

Underlight Clash of Dreams History and Beliefs

DOL17.png

DOL16.png

Dreamers of Light is an Illuminated house, believing that the souls of the unawakened are trapped within the nightmares and may only be freed by imprisoning the nightmare’s essence. By using the Dreaming Stone, the nightmare is imprisoned inside while the unawakened soul is freed.

Nightmares are creatures of the Dreamstate, though creature is a stretch of the term as they have no ecology of their own. They require the souls of the unawakened to manifest in the Dreamstate, as every being in the Dreamstate must have a Soul to travel in this plane. These souls being held captive against their will are in a constant state of torment, from which they cannot escape on their own. Only by imprisoning the nightmare, are these souls freed to return to the waking world.

Beliefs: Illuminated Imprisonment

As our knowledge of the dream was not as complete as it is now, though I am sure it is still not complete now, things were left out of the beliefs spoken by Mithrandir on that fateful day. This does not invalidate the old beliefs but shows a failing in them that needs to be fixed for all who walk in the Light.

Illuminated - Those that follow the Light believe that the Dreamstate is a higher plane of existence. As such our actions in the Dreamstate affect the waking world, depending on the action it either effects directly or indirectly. Some actions carry over in the form of thoughts and emotions, these are most common. However, as explained in Nightmares, the imprisoning of nightmares has a direct effect on the waking world by freeing the trapped souls. Also there is Dreamstrike, which is the ultimate in death as it is beyond avatar or body but death of your very soul.

Nightmares - Nightmares are creatures of the Dreamstate, though creature is a stretch of the term as they have no ecology of their own. They were created and released by the Entropy Coalition. Because of rituals of the Coalition the spawn, or creation, points of these creations there is a conduit into the Chaos for the automaton to trap the soul it needs to manifest inside the City and power it once there. They require the souls of the unawakened to manifest in the Dreamstate, as every being in the Dreamstate must have a Soul to travel in this plane. Nightmares do not have souls of their own as proven by the fact that they cannot travel through the planes of the Dreamstate as a soulsphere. These souls being held captive against their will are in a constant state of torment, from which they cannot escape on their own. The only way to free these souls and allow them to return to their sleeping bodies in peace is to Imprison the essence of the Nightmare, in effect imprisoning the raw materials used to form the Nightmare itself. This separates the Nightmare from the soul, as the process is designed to work on the raw materials of the creation, removing the Nightmare from the City and allowing the Soul to go free.

Banishment - Banishment is a foolish and twisted act when done by Freesouls. In so doing the Banisher sends the Nightmare into the Chaos surrounding the City. Normally this serves no lasting affect as the automaton is drawn back to the conduit of the generator that spawned it and uses this as an entrance back into the City. However, once in a great while the trapped soul will be that of an incredibly dark and twisted sleeper. When that occurs sometimes the soul and the Nightmare merge into a symbiotic relationship, this forces a state like the Awakening on the new creature. Dark Mares are the result of these unholy unions. See section House Prime Artifacts.

Drain Essence - This art is a vile, dark, and selfish art. It draws the strength of the essence, and thus the soul it contains, into the evoker to give them strength. This is tantamount to murder as the mare is gone but so is the soul it had held. See section Chaos for the exception.

House Prime Artifacts - Most, if not all, Houses have an artifact that exemplifies their beliefs, for us this was the Dreaming Stone. It could imprison mass quantities of essences at once and did not require the user to be a fifth sphere Soulmaster. If and when the Houses are reopened they will all have an artifact to follow their beliefs so it is important to know what happens when one manipulates them. Artifacts of this nature can take banished and imprisoned mare tokens, but this does nothing in essence once the mare has been imprisoned or banished there is no known way to reverse it. Draining, House Primes contain the strength from the essences they have processed, this can be drained, it does no real harm as it has already done its job to the essences. (This may change somewhat if they start to do something as well that uses the strength)

Chaos - This is not to be confused with chaos; the Chaos is the area of the Dreamstate outside the walls of the City. It is comprised of the thoughts and emotions of the unawakened sleepers. This area is full of psychic turmoil that is dangerous to unprepared Dreamers, but we know at one time Dreamers could exist there, as it is where Gerriel Endeth first Awoke too, as well as the others after that. There are no Nightmares in the Chaos, except those that have been Banished there and are either trying to get back into the City or are undergoing the merging to become a Darkmare.

The Fall of the Houses & The Building of the DoL Bridge

As told by: LovesLight

Before the fall of the Houses, the House planes were completely connected. Mysteriously one day, dreamers of all houses arrived at their homes to find the facades in the houses were slightly cracked, eroded.

Dreamers studied these strange oddities, but to no avail could find no apparent reason for the sudden erosion. Then late one evening, the dark three, Rahib, Zeid, and Idris, visited all the houses. The dark three stood upon the crevices and began evoking dreamquake at the first couple houses they visited. Dreamers began wising up and realizing what they were trying to do. Members of PoR and DoL after having seen the madness they were causing, the dark three were unable to stay coherent long enough to evoke their quakes at these houses. Upon the collapses of these beings, a deep voice rang throughout the facades, stating that with every collapse of these beings the cracks widened.

It seems the fall of the houses were inevitable, for dreamers of all houses awoke that night, and dreamt the next day only to find they had been demoted from their homes and all houses had crumbled to the ground with large canyons now in front of each house.

I say inevitable, for all houses fell, both those who allowed the dark three to quake and those that didn't.

Dreamers of all beliefs hearts sunk that dream, but this event was taken with much stride as dedicated hearts soon began rebuilding.

At Dreamers of Light, members bonded together one eve, and brainstormed ideas to get the house back in order and hopefully aid in its reopening.

It was decided that before we could begin repairs on the house itself, we needed a way to get across the canyon easier and also needed an easier way for visitors and newly awakened guests to aid. So it was decided that building a bridge across would be our first step.

A discussion was held in the Ilapse Sanctuary and brainstorming was done on how and with what would we be able to create a bridge. Someone suggested the use of shields in its creation, because of the durability.

I did some research and estimated some measurements on what would be needed to construct this bridge of shields. After a deep study into shields, I deducted that only the best of shields would do.

I overestimated quite a bit, but all in all our goal had been set. The bridge would need 3 layers. The bottom two layers being constructed of shields no less than pure sand or better for strength and stability. The top layer of no less than night sand for durability with less absorption.

As Dreamwrights of the past used reweave to patch the walls of the dreamstate, we too would use reweave to bind the shields together.

In addition, we used the tokens of the imprisoned mares much like needed and thread with the shields.

Now that we had the tools to meld the shields together, we needed a way to connect it to the permanent dreamstate. In this we would need the aid of the eldest member of the house, and the aid of the Light itself.

After the shields were donated and bonded together, all present gathered their hands together and a small ceremony with a poetic verse was used to draw on the Light's strength.

-And unto the Light, we build this bond... -Within our family, the Light lives on... -A bridge of shields is what we build, -For faith, devotion, and love shall shield our guild -Saving souls, we strive for what is right... -We seal this gap in the name of the Light!!!

As a final touch, Valourin, Elder of the Light, used his own special weaving skills and used the strength of the Sceptre of Light, a specially crafted Blade of Light, to give the ceremony a final kiss.

Dedicated members and friends performed this event twice a week for several months and the bridge began to transform into solid pieces. Finally hard work and dedication paid off, the members of Dreamers of Light have a beautiful bridge on their facade made from blood sweat and tears but most of all ...love.

Dreamers of Light Symbol

As told by: Dr. Carl G. Jung

As you view the DoL Emblem, in its full representation (as shown on the staircase), you'll note it basically has two distinct parts. The first, deepest image is the oldest. And what you'll see there, essentially, is a stylized representation of a head ... two faces in profile, one looking to the left, one to the right.

This dates back in time to the founding of the House, during the first debates between the Illuminated faction and the Freesoul faction. And you'll recall from your histories, of course, that this debate long preceded The Great Loss, or the opening of the Rifts. Dreamers of Light was the first Illuminated House. It was founded, initially, as a bulwark in the Chaos, where the Illuminated Dreamers could meet, band together.

The happy, smiling face that looks to the left was devised to portray the Illuminated philosophy. The smile represents the inner joy, the tranquility, of one who is at peace with himself, one who has accepted responsibility for his actions, for good or evil, in the Dream. Because he realizes that the good works we do here, illuminate and glorify our souls. And those good works carry over, have effects, in the waking world of Cloudsbreak.

The face looking to the right, by contrast, is distorted, confused -- at odds with itself. It is the face of one who cannot come to grips with the connection between Underlight and Cloudsbreak. One who hasn't yet realized that our actions here affect the waking world, and so is troubled, confused.

Both faces are portrayed in a single image, a sphere (no accident there!) Because both the Illuminated and FreeSoul philosophies exist among Dreamers who, at bottom, are brothers and sisters, sharing this Dream as they share Cloudsbreak.

The newer part of the Emblem, set out in sharper relief from the older background sphere shape and the faces, represents the House's views on saving souls. That philosophy is a newer one, that was developed as the House, along with the rest of the City, tried to cope with the Nightmare Wars, before the Great Loss.

As the Nightmares first began to attack the City, in force and in great numbers, the debate arose as to how best to fight them. Clearly, the key lay not just in battling the mares' avatars. But rather, in trying to find out WHY the mares were attacking, where they came from, what they truly represent. As the early Master Dreamwrights studied and debated that topic, two camps quickly developed. I say two. Actually there are three: Imprisoners, Banishers, and Drainers. But the last category every sensible Dreamer shuns as being barbaric, selfish, and cruel.

The scholars-warriors of Dreamers of Light concluded, after studying the question for a time, that there is only one sound explanation for the attacks of the mares. They represent Chaos, Evil Incarnate. Not evil in a vacuum, but the evil for which there is a potential in all of us. Our "dark side," if you will. And it is this capacity for evil and chaos in us, which the mares use to trap innocent Dreamer souls that float adrift in the Chaos. Those souls have yet to find their way into the Dream. They have yet to achieve the level of enlightenment and skill necessary to find their way to the Courtyard of Awakening, and thence to the City. And drawing upon the bits of evil within those souls (for every soul has both the capacity for good and for evil), the mares wrap themselves around those innocent souls. They entrap them. Then they come here, to the City, where -- continuing to draw on the evil portion of the trapped Dreamer soul within them -- they do battle with us here. Thus, our fight against the mares is indeed a continuing, never-ending struggle for good and evil.

When we succeed, temporarily, in each such battle, the forces of good have triumphed. The mare avatar is collapsed. What is left behind is the mare essence, filled with energies of the sort that we Dreamers recognize as our own. (That of course is what the barbarians who drain essences are extracting, selfishly, for their own temporary benefit -- those Dreamer soul energies.) Our scholars developed the art of Imprison Mare. And later, each House developed their Prime Artifacts, to expedite the Imprisonment process. We separate the innocent, trapped dreamer soul from the corrupted residue of the mare avatar that's been collapsed. We imprison that mare essence. And the innocent, unawakened Dreamer soul is freed to return to where it belongs. There, we hope, it will eventually find its way here to the City. To become a productive citizen, to aid us in rebuilding the City, and to help in the struggle of good against evil.

This is what explains the second part of our House Emblem. For what you see there, in those two sharply defined, slashing curves, represents that moment of glory, of triumph, when the mare essence is imprisoned. The lower curve, with its opening pointing down, represents the mare essence being imprisoned. The upper one, with its open side pointing to the heavens, represents the Dreamer soul being freed. And the fact that both are open represents the ongoing, continual nature of this struggle between good and evil.

Rediscovering the Caches

As told by: LovesLight

Shortly before the houses closed, Biggie Z and Magenta discovered a hidden room upon the Mountain called the Cabal Cache. It was discovered to be an armory/vault of sorts.

Biggie and Magenta shared this secret with just a few from their House, one being Flushy. Late one eve, Flushy, Valourin, and LovesLight were hanging out in thresh and Flushy inquired if they had seen the Cache yet. They hadn't and the three eagerly went to check it out.

When they arrived in this amazing new room they discovered an object not seen before placed in there. In its appearance, it resembled a ward a gatekeeper makes, but it was sitting on the table, and did not have the uses that a ward does. It had an inscription on it laying claim to the Cache. It was signed by the Srechethan Kabal. The three members of Light pondered this mystery, when LovesLight remembered an old tale she had heard about Teng's Treasure Hoard and Teng belonging to the Srechethan Kabal.

The three then ventured off to the Lost Caves to see if they could grasp any more clues to this mystery. Flushy and Val wandered around inspecting as Loves continued to explain the meaning behind the markings on the walls. Flushy had just been visited by the oracle a few days earlier and given a vision, he remembered this vision while inspecting the structures in the Treasure Hoard, for they resembled much of what the Oracle spoke to him.

"Holy Shit!" Val proclaimed from afar. Flushy and Loves perked up at Val's exclamation.

"What?!?!" They both asked.

"Locate me!" Val called out to them, and to their surprise they located Valourin in the 'Lost Caves Cache'.

"meet me in the Cavern of Spirits." He told them. When they met him there, Val showed them the entrance to the Cache located just inside the small cave inside the room. The three stood in awe inside their discovery.

As they stood there inspecting, mysteriously the Oracle appeared right before their eyes in soulsphere form. The Oracle then quickly vanished.. not saying a word. This sudden appearance made by the Oracle confirmed Flushy's assumption about the visions the Oracle and given him earlier in the week.

Inside the Cache they found another ward-like object, resembling the first one, same inscription, same markings, same functions.

Upon this discovery and Flushy's vision, the three decided that their had to be more of these caches around the city, and so their search began. After searching Gloom, the Cairns and Umbric Plains, they ventured to Albino. It was here that Flushy discovered a third Cache. But unlike the other two.. in this Cache, there was no ward-like object, this fact was most puzzling till a young dreamer who name I can't recall passed by the three and showed them a quick glimpse of an item just like they were carrying from the other two Caches.

The search went on, by Flushy's calculation from the vision he had been given and the markings on the ward- items, they had deduced.. there had to be at least two more of these caches somewhere in the city.

It grew to be early in the morning, the three had practically combed the dream city. They searched the Valley, Lambent, Harrow, and countless other planes. Loves suggested searching Ossuary of Dread but the three were so exhausted after 6 hours of searching straight, they decided that Evernight would be their last stop.

The three separated, the guys took the high roads while Loves searched the low roads. LovesLight screamed as she fell thru the waterfall in the Cave Falls.

"Found it!" she shouted. Again, another Ward-like item was on the table. She quickly put it in her satchel for further study.

Exhausted the three decided to keep their discoveries quiet, for now, and would do further searching tomorrow.

The next day the fifth Cache was found .. coincidentally in Ossuary of Dread where Loves has suggested.

Later Prelate and Iden former members of the Srechethan Kabal re-entered the city and shedded some light on the discovery of these caches, but shortly thereafter locked Three of them (Evernight, LC, and Ossuary) with strange stone like wards that cannot be blended thru or shattered. (though later the One in the Ossuary did weaken and is now able to be blended thru.)

At this time the three dark ones, Idris, Rahib and Zeid, were also brought to the city, and were said to be the key holders to pass these strange wards. Oddly enough Purple Lace of the Penumbra, has a key to one or more of them now.. why this Free spirit has access to her own personal vaults is still a mystery to many.

The Prophecy

In March of 2000, I had the strangest vision, A man appeared before me and shared his prophecy. At the time I had no clue what any of it meant with the exception of the "Darkened skies" which had just recently been darkened in evernight. Now and still everyday this prophecy reveals itself more and more.

March 16, Year of Potential

My fellow Dreamers,

Last night I witnessed the strangest Vision while wandering upon our beloved Mountain.

A man appeared before me...almost as if he wasn't really there... He was chained to a strong wooden post, He was naked.. and seemed very frightened of something. His face looked up to me and I jolted at the sight.. for he had no eyes, it was as if someone or something, maybe even himself, gouged them out....

I do not even know if he knew I was there.. Even without having eyes to show his emotions I could see much pain in his face...as his face looked dead at me and he mouthed words I could not hear.

I wanted to tell you all of what I saw .. for the room echoed with what I believe to be his mental prophecy..though I do not know if he knew for sure I was there... I think he felt my presence somehow.. I will try to recall this as clearly as I can...

LovesLight closes her eyes and trembles as the images of the man and his echoes reign thru her head.

LovesLight speaks softly with her eyes still closed.

As he appeared before me I was a bit frightened at what I saw...

I sought to help him, but then realized he could not hear me, and could not answer if he did..

The echoes began to ring throughout the base of the Mountain....

"What was secure, abides no more; Dark things blessed where once abhorred.

One beneath the black mist rises, lust consumes the noble's vices."

I looked around as I heard the echo.. and a chill swarmed over me.. The man then tugged at the chain binding him to the large post..

A sorrow overwhelmed me for there was nothing I could do for him..

"That which left and came again, no longer hale and sound therein."

I then watched as he tried to free himself from the post stretching his chain to it's limits... unable to get away he screeched an awful cry...it burned my ears.

LovesLight lowers her head with her eyes still shut grasping at her ears and cringing as she remembers and the scream rings through her head clearly.

"The light, the color, the portal spins; In order, chaos, chaos wins."

The man seemed to be overwhelmed with fright right then...he began scratching at his own eyes.. or what use to be.

"Darkened skies, a maren wail, desperate actions doomed to fail."

LovesLight's brows narrow with fright, as she begins to speak louder with unwanted excitement... tears streaming from her closed eyes.

He then whimpered and began bashing his ears against the post.. over and over and over again!!

LovesLight shivers as she recalls.

"When blood doth flow in deepened pools, arise ye swift to save thy jewels"

I wanted to help... oh how I wanted to....and I offered to him again, trying to let him know we were friends.. this is when I was sure he could not see or hear me. As I recall for you now, I am unsure he could even sense we (Val, Delucian and I) were there.

He then buried his face in the wall, seemingly trying to hide, but I do not think it was from us.

"A thing unreal, sanctified, now the source of great divide.

When lover's tears turn to blood, and threatening skies draw near, know my prophecy fulfilled and face your deepest fears." The man then began digging at the dirt with his hands, as he whimpered loudly...

Suddenly he looked up dead at me...I was overwhelmed with fright but I tried to hide it.. The echoes began to ring though once again from the beginning All I could do was watch and listen..

I could see the agony in his face.. then strangely he cowered down, as if something was hovering over him... then he began scratching at his own ears..

He then wailed loudly, and tried to free himself once again..

He them fell to the ground, as I saw him mouthing words I could not hear once again...and then the vision..He vanished.

As I said at this time just before this vision, the skies in Evernight had changed and now allowed you to see the rifts, but since them other things have come to be true in the prophecy..

-"Lover's tears turn to blood" -Lake of tears changed into blood, -The arrival of Daymares, -The house artifacts disappeared, -The Houses closed, (though now reopened) -Most recently- Some sanctuaries are no longer safe.

The Dreamers of LIGHT

A speech given by Wraith, former Ruler of the Light, at a house meeting long ago.

There are a few things I was hoping to chat about, but I was hoping for a much larger crowd to do so with. Anyway, be sure this gets out to your brothers and sisters.

Welcome to Dreamers of Light. This house was founded on two principals. Illumination and Imprisonment. Illumination is the belief that the dreamstate, and the actions we take here, have an effect upon the waking world. Imprisonment, is the belief, that souls are trapped within nightmares, and that placing their essences into the dreaming stone, or evoking the art imprison, frees them. Now, that sounds pretty simple. But this house has grown into so much more, and not by dictates, or rules, or anything other than a desire to be the best house in the dream. Sure those beliefs are hammered into you during your initiation, again at knighting for guardians, and usually once more at crowning for new Rulers. But this house, Dreamers of Light, is more than that. It is a house of "the Light". This esoteric term that floats around in sayings and greetings and salutations.... "Walk in the light brother".... "May the light illuminate your path" And so on. What is "the Light" ? Thats a good question, and I'm here to tell you what I think the light is. At least, to tell you what It is to me.

Honor. Love. Goodness. Faith.

Honor is the adherence to principals considered right, or just.

If we act without honor, our house becomes reduced in the light, to that of the likes of Calenture. When you give your word to someone, you have a duty to follow through with that. That is Honor.

If you accept a task from a teacher, it is dishonorable to not follow through with what you have agreed to do. You can return to a teacher, and tell them you decline. That too is honorable. But to fail to do a thing that you agree to do, is not the way of the Light.

Truth. Sincerity, honesty, conformity with fact. Following the line of darkness, is the path of lies, deceit, conjecture, and rumors. The Light stands for Truth !

Love. A strong affection or liking for someone, or something. The light is that which bathes us in love. For our house, for our brothers and sisters, for our belief and position in the dream.

Faith. Unquestioning Belief, complete Trust or confidence. The Light should be filled with members who we have faith in !

When I go to war, I want to know that you will all go with me, and be at my side. And I want you to know, that I will be at yours. Look around. See who stands next to you. These are your brothers, and sisters. These are the people you need to have faith in ! Loyalty. Steadfastness in alliance to ones home, or brothers and sisters. The Light does not permit betrayal within it's ranks, but fosters unity, and loyalty to each other.

We are the good of the dream. Think for a moment what it is that we do. We save souls from the darkness of torture by nightmares. We are saviors ! We are the goodness in the dream. *That* is what we do. We save souls.

The light is about acting for those who cannot act. We defend and protect those who cannot do so for themselves.

Do you all feel that this is what the light stands for in your heart? Is this an integral part of what Dreamers of Light IS ? Then If I asked you all to swear these beliefs as though they were part of your own oath, you would do so without hesitation?

I have sworn this before, and I do so now again. For this is my heart. This has always been my heart. And though it beats not, these are the feelings that dwell within me.

Now, we talk about darkness.

Darkness is our enemy. Rumors. Lies. Deceit. Defiance. Lack of Respect.

Anger. Hostility. Frustration. Loneliness. Boredom. Jealousy.

We all know darkness when we see it. It is clear as day, for it can blot out the light. Can it not?

I say NO ! I say the light is stronger ! I say only by allowing darkness to exist in these golden halls has it been here at all.

It becomes our duty, as servants to this house, which stands not only for Illumination, and Imprisonment, but for THE LIGHT....to bathe darkness in light.... To extinguish Evil.... To place Truth over Falsehood... To combat Rumor with Fact... To place praise over jealousy... To act rather than to be bored... To help rather than hinder...

Frustration is overridden by Communication, and aid.: Whispers are the tools of secrets.

Now, you can watch me stand up here, preaching to what I think the light is. And you can say to yourself, hey, he's right, and we all just swore to these beliefs.... But what I am asking you to do now, is FOLLOW these beliefs that you have sworn to.

BE the Light. Act as these traits DEMAND that you act. This is Dreamers of Light ! We are the best house in the dream ! Why? Because we are the righteous saviors of the waking world ! We are the GOOD of the dream !

Now, that I have separated the house from the faith....I'll point it out to you again....

We...... Are...: Dreamers... of...: LIGHT.!!!!

The house, and the faith, are one and the same ! DREAMERS OF LIGHT !

Xatoc's Demise

As told by: Maxim II

Once a year The Chaos Eclipse envelopes the city. We have always been taught that during a Chaos Eclipse that it is possible to use the "Chaos Ritual" to rid the city of the horrid beasts we know of as Darkmares, but until last year, The year of Turmoil, Dreamers of the city have been unable to put exactly all the pieces of the ritual together to perform it properly. Last year was indeed an eventful time during the Chaos Eclipse. Scrolls of Relminus the Blind, began to pop-up throughout the city, 17 codices in all, seemed to give detailed instructions from Relminus himself on how to perform the ritual successfully. With the help of Selika, member of the Sable Moon, I was able to obtain the information of all 17 codices and put them in the correct order.

After much discussion with my family at the Light, we decided we were indeed going to try to rid the dream of some of these beasts when the Eclipse was indeed upon us, since we now knew what had to be done. We studied carefully. The first codex in the sequence stated the following:

" The reaper must be created in a place where the dream resonates with power, by a dreamer who pursues the path of Dreamsmith. The words to be inscribed on the reaper; One word of doubt, one of fate, one of brotherhood, one of hate. Two words of opposition, three words of power, the name of the DM whom chaos will devour."

At the Light, we are lucky because we already had a resident Dreamsmith in our home, Ruler Valourin, who bears the mark of a Smith. So it was decided that he would indeed begin working on the Reapers. We decided on the place of power and late into the night Valourin, myself, and a few others brainstormed for the words that would be placed on the reapers as called for.

Valourin then inscribed the reapers for the ritual at the power gen on the Evernight exit on Harrow Glades. He inscribed about ten, one for each mare that had been seen lately and who were likely to give us a visit during the Eclipse. We then stored the reapers in our house library. There were three phases of the Ritual that through the 17 codices we were able to determine. The three phases were as follows:

Phase 1: A dreamer possessing the reaper speaks the words of isolation and then gives the reaper to the Darkmare. Words of Isolation; "Darks name! Let the chaos within you bring your own destruction!"

Phase 2: Requires 4 dreamers, one of each focus, to join party and become the party of the four foci. The four must position the mare's Soulsphere between them the best they can. The party then evokes their art and speaks the words of sundering. The arts evoked are; Free action, Judgment, Purify and Blind. Words of Sundering- "Darks name! Let the elements of the dream be your undoing!"

Phase 3: A house prime is used to destroy the Dark Mare. A dreamer holding the prime must speak the words of destruction and then shows the mare the prime. Words of Destruction- "Darks name! In the name of the Dream may you be utterly destroyed!"

In the days before the Eclipse arrived our family practiced the ritual a few times at the keep to work out any kinks.

Then on the evening of the Eclipse, we were guarding the keep and I located Xatoc in Dorsal Rift. So I warned the rest of the family there and ran to get the reaper designated for Xatoc from the House library. I got back in the middle of the fight with Xatoc but it didn't take long for LovesLight to take it down with her blast.

So we prepared to perform the ritual even though at the time we had no FateSender to fill the part of the lucid focus, but we located Innioc, member of the Sable Moon, in threshold and OfF KiLTeR quickly ran to ask his help. Innioc obliged and came up the Mountain with OfF to aid in the ceremony. Luckily, Xatoc was entertaining himself with the members still present in the keep, roaring and deafening us all while trying to steal our dreamsoul with his pain aura. Unbeknownst of our plans, the foolish beast goofed around long enough to allow us to begin the ritual.

With the party of the four foci completed, we set out to do the ritual, Flushy started by saying the words of isolation "Xatoc! Let the chaos within you bring your own destruction!" and gave the reaper to Xatoc.

The party of the four foci consisted of, Delucian, the Gatekeeper, OfF KiLTeR, the Dreamseer, Innioc, the Fatesender, and myself, the Soulmaster. We were already in position and Delucian started us off evoking Free Action as he spoke, "Xatoc! Let the elements of the dream be your undoing!" OfF KiLTeR followed him with the evocation of judgement as he spoke, "Xatoc! Let the elements of the dream be your undoing!" I was next as I evoked the art of purify I spoke the words, "Xatoc! Let the elements of the dream be your undoing!" Innioc finished up phase two evoking blind on Xatoc as he spoke, "Xatoc! Let the elements of the dream be your undoing!"

LovesLight came in with the final blow once again, by speaking the words of destruction "Xatoc! In the name of the Dream may you be utterly destroyed!" and showed the Dreaming Stone to Xatoc and completed phase 3.

We all held our breath and stood in eerie silence. Then, after a second of worry, Xatoc painfully roared his way from the dream for the last time. Never to wreak his havoc ever again!

The Faith

This was a message left to all on our public scrolls by Cyborb512, past Ruler and now current member of DoL, when the Union, The Gathering, and the Shadow were attempting to open and the 3 pretenders made great promises of doing so.

Though this time has long passed, I feel as a family we still and will always suffer trials and tribulations that lead us to losing ones who claim to be devoted. And with each loss, no matter the circumstances I will again share this speech given by Cyborg.. For Faith is Faith..

With the arrival of the Pretenders, there seems to be a rampant exodus from DoL (and other houses most likely) to join these NEW houses.

Brothers and sisters, what happened to your faith? How can you look me in the eye and say you still serve the Light when you clearly have abandoned your faith for some promise from a house that ISN'T EVEN OPEN YET?

Was DoL just a staging ground for your arts, a place to further your own personal power, despite the Oath to put the house first? My brothers and sisters, this is the latest in a long series of dreamers that refuse to use their heads before they make decisions. Please, PLEASE remember to tell newly awakened they must learn ALL the beliefs of ALL the houses before choosing DoL.

Our faith must stand strong. With out the Light to guide us, we will falter and lose our way. Draining, banishing, hugging mares is NOT the way to serve the Light. No one that does these things can say they still serve the Light. It is a lie.

Is friendship more important than faith, Truth and Love? If your friends left DoL and jumped off a cliff, would you?

Let us revel in the Light, let it bathe us anew, cleanse our souls and fill our hearts as never before! Let us join our new Rulers and thank the Light every day that we, Dreamers of Light, are the strongest and the finest examples of dreamers there are in the city of Underlight! Live in the Light!

Characteristics of the Light

-Author: Unknown -Submitted by: Magenta

Above all, love and care for others, as well as yourself. Compassion for those who make mistakes. Those among st you who have never made a mistake step forward. Aaaah, just as I expected, only those who are self righteous stepped forward, for those who are humble know they are not without sin.

Self Knowing, revealing the truth by its manifestation. In the light, the darkness is revealed for what it is. It can not hide.

Truth. Truth as not only what you say, but the nature of your being, a being of light. When you deny the truth of your being, you step towards the darkness.

Selflessness. The light gives without asking in return. It is the nature of light to give, to share to be open and free.

The light can not be bound. Its very nature is freedom. When you dwell in the light, you see that the harm you do to others is the harm you do to yourself. This is true because in the light, the divisions of separateness fade away and what once appeared to be many, are now seen as one.

When you harm the light, you harm yourself. when you find fault with others, you show your own faults to them, for if you had compassion and understanding, you would see that it is really you who are flawed by making that judgement in the first place.

Judge not lest you be judged. By the way you rule over others, so shall you be ruled over.

The first become the last, the greatest becomes the smallest, the mountain are lowered and the valleys raised. In the light there is no right and wrong, only the light. In the light there is not good or bad, only the light. In the light there is no "you" or "me", only the light.

When you perceive the true nature of the light, the essence of your being, then you will truly be a "Dreamer of Light" and as a "Dreamer of Light" you will not have to make demands on others, you will not have to tell anyone what to do, because by your light their path will be shown, their way made smooth by your example.

If you would be a true "Dreamer of Light" there is an old saying that applies, "Know Thyself". When you do, the light will truly be revealed to you and you will not depend on others for praise and honors because the only praise and honor you need comes from within yourself, is an aspect of your being.

Be the Light.

History of the House of Light

As told by: Valourin

Pre-Loss Highlights

Dreamers of Light was founded as a group of Illuminated Dreamers before there were Houses as we know them. Like the others they banded together based on their beliefs and overall attitudes as well. They were always warriors for their cause and put forth some of the greatest Knights* in the Illuminated Front. After the Dreamstrike Offensive when all of the factions split apart and moved to the far edges of the planes to create their Houses for protection the Dreamers of Light went up Mt. Illapse. They first created a keep on the way to where they planned their fortress to act as a first line of defense. Afterwards they began work on the golden fortress that is used as the House proper in these days. The first Ruler of Dreamers of Light was a dedicated and ruthless woman named Demetria. She would do anything for her beliefs and her home even if others would think such actions were wrong or immoral. When it came to the House she fully believed the ends always justified the beliefs. From there the House grew and flourished up until The Great Loss.

Post-Loss History

One day after the City had been reopened there was a large gathering of Dreamers in the Dreamers of Light Threshold. Kelrith and Mythrandir were having a debate it seemed, and most of the Dreamers of that day seemed to be in attendance. Kelrith was speaking of the Dream as nothing more than a dream and that the nightmares were figments that needed to be banished. Mythrandir spoke of the Dream as a higher plane, a spiritual one, and that the nightmares were using the souls of the Unawakened and had to be imprisoned for the good of both Dream and Waking world together.

The debate ended with no winner and Kelrith stormed out telling those that believed as he did to meet in the House Calenture Threshold, many left but others stayed, still others just sort of filtered out now that the excitement was over. Those of us that stayed spoke further to Mythrandir and after a great storm we came back and many of us chose to be initiated into Dreamers of Light.

As the House grew the need for more leadership was seen and so Artamor chose the first of the House's Guardians, Watcher and Kasumi Keda. During this time we got a hold of the Orb of Calenture, before the Dreaming Stone was found again even. However, being young in the Dream and not considering it fully the Orb was traded back for the House ID of Valourin that was lost to a Horron on the mountain that Smoke, who then joined Calenture, picked up.

During the time that Tehthu walked the dream the House continued to grow and flourish, so much so that two new guardians were chosen, Valourin and LMBE. After Tehthu was defeated the two Guardians that had been able to stay through the ceremony, Valourin and Kasumi Keda, were in the group of five that became the first Teachers in the Dream.

Things went well for Dreamers of Light for some time after that, we recovered our piece of the Codex of Immortal Dreams and the House was growing and more structure was being introduced by the Guardians. A framework was designed to allow for the orderly growth of the House. There were small problems from time to time, storms would occasionally take the Stone but it always seemed to happen at the same time as the Orb and so it was that we always were able to retrieve it quickly even if Calenture were the ones that found it as we would always seem to find their artifact.

The major incident of note was the first demotion of a Guardian. LMBE was increasingly sympathetic with House Calenture and he would go beyond his duties and behind the backs of his fellow Guardians. He would second guess them as well as say that the things they said and did were wrong in public, against the general rules of the rank at the time. All of the other Guardians saw this and realized it was a huge problem, LMBE was spoken to but even that did not seem to work. So it was decided with Artamor's help they would seek his demotion, and at the next House meeting they did just that. Artamor listened and in the end, as it was the will of all other Guardians, LMBE was demoted to the rank of Initiate.

Not long after, Artamor came to the Guardians and said that the time to choose a Ruler was at hand and that the whole house should have a voice in it this time. So a vote was held and at the next meeting with Kelrith, now a free spirit, and Artamor both in attendance Maker gave the results. Watcher had won the vote and would be the Ruler of Dreamers of Light. However, Artamor surprised everyone by saying that there should be two and asked who the next highest was, and with one vote separating them Valourin was named the other Ruler of Dreamers of Light.

  • Knights in this sense meant those with the Arts necessary for combat. At the time they were the only ones that took part in combat in the Dream. It was not until the creation of Talisman that nearly every Dreamer could take part and thus it was this discovery that catapulted the dream into the Dreamer Wars.

Dreamers of Light - by Watcher

This is in no way a complete account of the history of the House, but one pieced together from the moment I became a proud Initiate. I had heard stories of a Great Debate between two powerful Guardians who had survived the Great Loss and found their way back to the City of Dreams. It was told to me that they stood for two recently rebuilt houses known as Dreamers of Light and House Calenture. These two Dreamsmiths, known as Mithrandir and Kelrith, had expressed their views on the exact nature of the Dreamstate. Mithrandir, who was Illuminated, seemed to be convinced in his theory that Nightmares contained the trapped souls of the Unawakened; Sleepers who had not yet discovered the Awakening. Kelrith, a Freesoul, thought otherwise. This information was told to me by a Dreamer known as Kasumi Keda. Upon hearing it, I immediately saw that I believed in everything Mithrandir had said.

Kelrith was obviously a fool. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to be a member of the Dreamers of Light. I sought out Mithrandir and asked him if I could be Initiated. I swore to uphold our ideals and a few moments later, I was an Initiate. As an Initiate, I sought out others who believed as I did. Together we worked to rebuild our House and the City. One of these Initiates, a brave and honorable Dreamer known as Valourin, lost his House ID after Horron, the most terrible of all Nightmares, collapsed him. A warrior known as Smoke, then a Free Spirit, came upon Horron's lair and killed the vile Nightmare. He then picked up the ID and later refused to give it back to its rightful owner, Valourin. Soon after, Smoke was Initiated into House Calenture, a House of the Freesoul. He gave Valourin's ID to Calenture, who then used it to propose a trade. They would give us, the Dreamers of Light, Valourin's ID and in return, we had to give them their Prime Artifact, the Orb of Calenture. We had come to possess the Orb a few days before this trade, and did not know the full extent of its powers. Myself being caught in the storms, was not able to make my opinions on the trade known until after the deal had been made. Shortly after this, our Prime Artifact, the Dreaming Stone, was found missing.

We believed that the Storms had taken it from where Kasumi Keda and I had hid it, behind a fake wall in Celebration Hall. We searched the City and found it in the Gold Sanctuary in Edgeward Barrows. Relieved that our Artifact was not hurt, we returned it to our House. Later on, Kasumi Keda and I were made the first Guardians of House Dreamers of Light since the Great Loss. Struggling to prove we were worthy of this position, we sought for ways to increase the power of our House. Time passed and the storms grew every day. One fateful day, the Orb of Calenture was taken in a Storm. We, as Dreamers of Light, were all very excited about this, and searched high and low. We could not let Calenture find it, for by then we had discovered that it was used to Banish Nightmares. It was found on Illapse Path, on Mt. Illapse, by Initiate LMBE. LMBE, escorted by Guardians Artamor, Kasumi Keda, and I, was taken to the House, where the Orb was placed within the Knight Entry; a safe area where the Orb could not be stolen. Calenture was not told that we had found their Orb, and they continued to look for it. About a week later, the Guardians of House Dreamers of Light, including myself, decided that it would be best to return the Orb to Calenture, else there would be talk of war. By that time, Calenture was almost certain that we had the Orb in our possession. Kasumi Keda and I traveled to House Calenture and offered Guardians Ghea and Mufassa the Orb in exchange for a small tribute of 200 Nightmare Essences.

We thought this a small price for the Orb, as we believed that many more Unawakened Sleepers would be forced into an eternity of suffering, Banished within the Orb. Calenture refused this offer and began to throw other deals on the table. We refused all of these, none being acceptable or fair to the Unawakened Sleepers. I pointed out that they needed the Orb, we did not. About a week of negotiations followed. During this time, Kelrith, no longer a Guardian of Calenture but a servant of the City, proposed a Tournament of the Spheres. Everyone was excited, arguing over who would be the first Champion. During the time after the announcement of the Tournament, our own Dreaming Stone was taken by the Storms. I spoke to Kelrith about this and he, using his awesome powers, returned it to Me. Shortly after, though, I was taken by the Storms myself, and dropped the Dreaming Stone where I stood. Unfortunately though, a member of House Calenture was in the room. His name was Dragon. It is my understanding that he took the Orb and gave it to the Guardians of Calenture, who then hid it within their House. The Tournament began with many Dreamers participating; it was an exciting event! Our own Kasumi Keda came in second place! Later on, the Guardians of Calenture came to House Dreamers of Light to continue the negotiations. They said that they had found our Dreaming Stone and were willing to return it to us IF we gave them the Orb and signed a Treaty in the process. The Treaty stated that if we find their Orb, we give it to them immediately; if they find our Stone, then they give it to us. No games. We could not accept this, knowing how evil the Orb was. They threatened us with war.

Artamor and Kasumi just wanted a quick and easy trade. The Orb for the Stone, and that's that. Calenture refused! I, while in a party with Kasumi Keda and Artamor, was used as a bargaining tool. Kasumi and Artamor refused to sign any treaty without me being present. I was hiding in the Green Room. We stalled long enough for the Guardians of House Calenture to eventually leave. The next day, negotiations resumed, and it was agreed that we would hold a tournament to see if we would sign the treaty. The Prime Artifacts were exchanged and we went our separate ways. The tournament never happened. Time passed and our House grew. Eventually we were in need of two new Guardians. These were to be Valourin and LMBE. Both were very active within the House. After this, Kelrith told us all that there was an evil Prime Artifact within the City, known as the Corrupter of Souls. We all searched for it, and Initiate Tanar of Dreamers of Light found it in the Umbric Plains. He later gave it to me, where, with the blessings of all in the City, I took it to House Dreamers of Light for safekeeping. A week later the Corrupter of Souls was transferred to House Calenture. We could not stand its evil in our halls. Around that time, much evil began to fill the City of Dreams, and a powerful Nightmare known as Tehtue was discovered. Three Guardians from House Calenture and three from our House, plus Kelrith, called Tehthu to battle, and the whole of the City fought it. We all worked together. Later that day, all Guardians were given the burden of being Teachers, and we continue to spread knowledge throughout the Dreamstate. As of this writing, both the Orb of Calenture and the Dreaming Stone are missing, taken by the Storms. We can only hope that it will be a short time before they are recovered and BOTH are placed within the halls of our house, Dreamers of Light. Now the City has grown, nearly doubled in size! We continue to wander and rebuild that which was once lost.

Creation of the Dreamers of Light

by Dranak, SM Teacher of the Great House of Light

There were 15 Master Dreamwrights who set out to create Mt. Illapse. They created the first 10 areas on the way up Illapse. This took them 10 weeks, a week of pure concentration for each area. They were proud of their work, as they should be, so each had an area named after them. As you walk up and around Mt. Illapse, you can see their legacy left behind. They created Camp of Kings and there paused for a rest to regain their energies. There were 5 others yet in the group who had nothing named after them, so they started back down and created areas off the side, once again naming them after themselves. During the creation of the last area Mirdinir, who was the youngest and very tired, miscalculated while the vast energies were surrounding them. He lost control and was swept away into the Chaos. The others were tired as well and losing one of their own was devastating, work on the Mt was now at an end. It would be centuries before anyone ventured up the mount to once again create.

During this period, the very first duel between Dreamers took place. Keminar of Faraway and Trinxan the Illuminated, both having different views on the state of the Dream, had a duel in the Amphitheater of the Sphere. Soon after, open warfare developed throughout the Dream. During this time of war, Markosh discovered how to create the Item Generators we now have. He placed these throughout the Dream. Dreamstrike, the ultimate death, was now being created to attempt at bringing peace back to the Dream. The Dreamstrike Masters came in and put an end to the all out Warfare. During this time of forced peace, work once again began on Mt. Illapse, and the Great House of Light.

Demetria, our first Ruler of Light, was part of this new group. Coltura our first Guardian, and the creator of Blend, was also a part of this group. It was decided at this time to extend the Mt to allow access to Gloom Peaks and Cairn of Sorrow. Forgotten Pits was created first, so named because Illapse had been so long ignored and forgotten by many. Solitude Pits was next, allowing access to Forgotten Grotto and Gloom Peaks. Tiraths Pit was created next allowing access to Padeas Pit and from there to Cairn of Sorrow. Two months were then spent designing and creating our Keep. The Sanctuary wasn't added until the Nightmare Wars, a short time later. Two Ambuscades, one on either side of the Keep, were made for added protection. The vault was added for storage of items. Over two years were then spent on the design and creation of the House. Once again the Sanctuary wasn't added until the Nightmare Wars.

During the Nightmare Wars, roving patrols had been started to try to slow down this new threat. his allowed further construction on our House, and the maze underneath was then added. The portals were developed during this time and the Dream was segmented. During this Forgotten Grotto and Padeas Pits became part of the Mt, and Gloom and Cairn of Sorrow were moved one area farther from the Mountain. Over the next decade the Houses became divided once again. Instead of only having concern of the Dream's affect on the waking world, the Mares were now to be considered. Some, like House Calenture, thought it would be better to Banish the Essences, while others knew that Imprisoning is the proper way. The Houses are now divided into 8 different schools of thought, some Freesoul others Illuminated, some believed in Banishing while others Imprison and yet others Drain.

House Calenture was the first to develop its Prime Artifact, the Orb of Calenture. Dreamers of Light was next, with the Dreaming Stone. The others followed soon after. The first House war soon followed between House Calenture and Dreamers of Light, the two largest houses. At the end of the Battle of Rock Falls, two Rulers of Light lay dead by Dreamstrike. The Houses once again started patrols and began to seal off their claimed lands. As the Dream headed towards open war again, the worst happened. Dorsal Rift was created by a rip in the City walls and The Great Loss was upon the City.

So ends my tale of the creation of the Dreamers of Light.

House Emblem

DoL Initiate.gif
DoL-Flag.jpg

The bracers on the emblem stand for the mare and the tormented soul. They are to remind the Dreamers of Light of their pledge to imprison the mare and set free the tormented soul within.

As the first part of the DoL emblem was created you can see, the happy, smiling face that looks to the left was devised to portray the Illuminated Philosophy. The smile represents the inner joy, the tranquility, of the one who is at peace with himself, one who has accepted responsibility for his actions, for good or evil, in the dream. He realizes that the good works we do here, illuminate and glorify our souls and those works carry over in the waking world. The face looking to the right, by contrast, is distorted, confused and at odds with itself. It is the face of one who cannot grip the connection between Underlight and the waking world. One who hasn't yet realized our actions here affect the waking world, and so trouble and confused.

The newest part of the emblem, set out in sharper relief from the older background sphere shape and the faces, represents the houses views on saving souls.

This newer belief is a newer one which came from The Nightmare Wars before The Great Loss. As the Nightmares began to attack the City, in force and in great numbers, the debate arose on how best to fight them. The scholar-warriors of Dreamers of Light concluded, after studying the question of how to stop the nightmares and save the souls trapped by them, Imprisoning was used to save the soul and stop the chaos from affecting the unawakened souls. This belief of the second part of the house emblem is that of imprisoning mare essences saves the unawakened dreamers soul.

The two sharply defined, slashing curves, represents that moment of glory, of triumph, when the mare essence is imprisoned. The lower curve with its opening pointing down, represents the mare essences being imprisoned. The upper one, with its open side pointing to the heavens, represents the Dreamers soul being freed. The fact that both are open represents the ongoing, continual nature of this struggle between good and evil.

Dreamers of Light Re-opened

Two ancient Dreamwrights were strong enough to survive the great loss. Lord Xenus came forth from the chaos to rebuild its walls, and Kelrith emerged to guide the new generation, bearing the wisdom of ages.

Kelrith was a dreamer of the old House Calenture, a believer in a Freesoul philosophy that proposed to banish nightmares for the good of the City. Kelrith imparted this wisdom to many new dreamers, and collected a following to spread this tradition of belief.

It soon became known that other Dreamwrights had escaped the massive destruction, and pieces of the dream were yet recoverable somewhere in the vast abyss. During The Great Loss, the chaos came in two massive waves - the first crippling wave banished dreamers into the chaos, while the second succeeded in destroying all who remained. The ancient Dreamwright Mithrandir returned to reclaim the beliefs of the Dreamers of Light, teaching illuminated philosophies and imprisonment of nightmare essences. He too gathered adherents to spread these beliefs.

There came a day when Mithrandir and Kelrith met once again in the Dreamers of Light threshold, and rekindled the old debate between Freesoul and Illuminate. Following this debate, Kelrith marched up to the stairs of the ancient house House Calenture to open its doors to its new members. Mithranir would soon follow suit by opening the doors of Dreamers of Light. It was not long before old antagonisms rose to the surface, and the Dreamers and Calenturians became embroiled in conflict. Most of the earliest conflicts revolved around the thefts of house artifacts; attempts to impede the follow-through of belief systems that were philosophically at odds to their own.

Mithrandir would lead the Dreamers of Light for only a short time, when Agathos and then Artamor rediscovered the Dreaming and assumed the responsibilities of advising the house, initiating dreamers and promoting members. There were no rulers when either house opened. Those who deemed worthy were promoted to the station of guardian.
